Blog 7: Jonas' POV Change

Jonas' point of view has been changing throughout the story. One way it is different from others is he is now getting more information about the world how it used to be before. He sees how they changed the world. Everyone thinks the "perfect" world they live in is all natural. When he actually thinks about why everything has changed and who changed it, he is going to want to know answers and i think that's when the conflict of the story is going to be.

Blog 6: New Chapter Title

The chapter title i'm going to change is for chapter 7. The name i'm going to give it is "The Odd One Out" I gave it this title because during the Ceremony of 12, everyone was given an assignment except Jonas. Each child had a number. They called each number except nineteen, Jonas's number.

Blog 8: Freedom

The part I got was to ensure domestic tranquility. To ensure domestic tranquility means that the government is trying to make sure we could live as peaceful as we could. I think if they take that to far then i think our community will become like Jonas'. Depending how they make it peaceful, it might help us a lot but will hurt us if they don't do it right.

Freedom is an opinion. Like to be able to walk around, that is freedom to someone. But freedom to someone else could be going around the world. How they make sure everything is peaceful might be the greatest decision or the worst decision they could have. It all depends how they do it.

Freedom in the Giver isn't really freedom. But everyone in that community is so used to it, they believe that, that is what freedom is. They have rules about everything. You can't even bring food home if you lived in their community. I don't think that is even freedom. There is freedom in the giver but very little of it.

Blog Five: Choices Choices

I would rather live in our community. It would be better if they like went together and became one community. Like I would want the freedom we have but then I would want them to give me a job. Like I don’t have to go look for a job or anything. One reason I would want to live in our world is I could take food I own from wherever I want to wherever I want.  Another reason I would rather live in our world is I could say anything and not get evicted from the town. Like in his community if they say “release” then they are going to be released. So yeah…

Blog Three: What If?

Who knows how my life would turn out? The community would be way different. One major way it would be different is there would still be slavery. If some how we got past slavery there would still be segregation. If we don’t know the events in history then we won’t know why we got into wars and how to prevent them. Another thing we won’t know is how the people before us failed and succeeded. If we know how they failed we would know not to do that and try to change it and make is work. If we know how the succeeded we would want to do what they did so we would have a successful future.

I didn't contribute anything into the discussion because I didn't feel like what i was going to say was going to relate to what the others were saying, so I just sat back and listened to what they talked about.

Mrs.G brought up a good point about how history isn't always the ancient stuff. I could be the stuff that just happened. So if we didn't know history then technically we wouldn't know anything.

Blog Two: Two Worlds Collide

Our worlds are similar because there is a person that is in command. In there they have a person in charge and we have a president. Another way they are similar is the kids have to go to school.

Our world and they're worlds have many differences. One difference is they have so many rules. Like even over the little things. Like they can't even take food home. Like we have rules, a decent amount of rules but it doesn't compare to ours.

I would rather live in our world. I would rather live in our world because there aren't so many strict rules. Like if i live in our world, I could take food around and not get in trouble. That's the main reason because you know, i like food. so yeah.

Blog One: Career Choices

Having a career chosen for you has it's pros and cons. Some pros would be the career is based off of your interests. If it's based off of your interests then you should have fun and enjoy you career.

Some cons of having a career chosen for you are if they chose a wrong one for you you will not like your job. Like you will just hate going to work everyday. Another bad thing is you can never change your job if you don't like the job your at, at the time.

It would impact me because i wouldn't be able to pick by myself. Like what if i get bored, then i cant quit and go work somewhere else. A good way it would impact me is i could be lazy and they pick the job for me so i don't have to go through the interview process and wait for them to call me back or anything. They find me a job and i just show up on the first day.
